I am a resident Bridgnorth artist and published author of fifteen books: Local History, Football History and Western Novels. I love to produce big vibrant paintings and drawings using a wide variety of mediums such as Acrylics, Oils, Watercolours, Mixed Media, Graphite and Charcoal, applied to canvas and paper, many that are multi-layered, highly textured surfaces created using pencil shavings, dried lumps of paint, sawdust, modelling paste, Gesso, even dried tea leaves. I utilise brushes, pallet knives and an unlimited variety of objects to make lines, marks, and scratching out.
My subjects include: Expressive Abstracts, Abstract Landscapes and loosely interpreted seascapes, both imagined and real, vistas that I have marvelled at and savoured. Also, Figurative Studies, Still Life, Flora, Portraiture, Animals, and Contemporary Art.
My inspiration comes from many sources. For instance, for my landscapes, both abstract and traditional, the stunning Shropshire countryside and the River Severn provide a multitude of subjects, always striving to capture the spirit and energy of the subject, always seeking to draw in the eye to evoke emotion in the viewer.
