JEMMA FINCH

My practice explores the human body through movement and material. As a former professional dancer, motion is central to how I work. I create large-scale drawings with paper laid on the floor, using my body to “dance” across the surface, allowing movement, weight and rhythm to generate mark-making. These drawings become a physical record of gesture and time. I then translate this work into glass, drawn to its responsive nature. When heated, glass flows and shifts, echoing the dynamics of the moving body. Through this process, I aim to capture movement suspended in material form.
